Bajura: The cultivation of apples in Bajura is witnessing a remarkable upturn, thanks to the initiatives undertaken by the Agricultural Knowledge Center. Following a comprehensive study conducted by the center on the potential for apple cultivation in various locations within Bajura, farmers have been encouraged to expand their apple farming endeavors.

Under the guidance and subsidy provided by the center, apples grown in Bajura are now being sold in various parts of the country. With the recent surge in demand for apples beyond the district, farmers in Bajura are increasingly drawn towards apple cultivation. It was not long ago that apples in Bajura were primarily fed to livestock, as there was no market demand for the organic apples produced in the region.

However, with the recent success of marketing Bajura-grown apples in different cities across the country, facilitated by the efforts of the Krishi Gyan Kendra, farmers' enthusiasm for apple cultivation has soared. The Kendra has reached out to farmers, offering subsidies to support the sale of apples in different regions of the country. Consequently, farmers have exhibited great interest in apple cultivation. Additionally, the local administration has prioritized apple cultivation, further invigorating farmers and igniting their passion for the endeavor.

Apple farmers in Bajura express that their interest in apple cultivation has been revitalized since the Agricultural Knowledge Center initiated the practice of procuring apples directly from orchards. Previously, apples were primarily cultivated in Swamikartik, Budhinanda, and Jagannath regions of the Himalayas in Bajura. However, it has now been reported that apples are thriving in Gaumul and Khaptad Chededah Rural Municipality as well, according to Information Officer Meen Prasad Jaishi.

The resurgence of apple cultivation in Bajura is attributed to the combined efforts of the Agricultural Knowledge Center, the supportive subsidies provided by the Krishi Gyan Kendra, and the proactive stance taken by the local authorities. These concerted initiatives have rekindled farmers' interest in apple farming, thereby driving economic growth and sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
