Kanchanpur: The local level administration of Kanchanpur is currently engrossed in formulating the budget for the upcoming financial year.

The seven municipalities and two rural municipalities in the region are actively involved in the selection of plans during settlement and toll meetings, which will serve as the foundation for the forthcoming year's budget. Mayor Hemraj Ojha of Krishnapur Municipality stated that ward representatives have embarked on discussions with villages and toll areas within their respective domains to gather input and devise plans. These engagements aim to ensure the budget's alignment with the needs and aspirations of the local populace. Mayor Ojha further revealed that the budget is scheduled to be presented during the Municipal Assembly on June 25 (Aasardha 10).

Likewise, Bhimdatta Municipality has made preparations to present the budget during the Municipal Assembly on June 22 (Aasardha 7). Mahendra Khadka, spokesperson for Bhimdatta Municipality, highlighted that plans derived from the meetings, following the collection of settlements from all wards, are being channeled through the ward committee to reach the Municipal Assembly. Similarly, Ganesh Datta Mishra, the chief administrative officer of Dodhara Chandni Municipality, stated that efforts are underway to finalize the budget for the next year by June 10. Mishra emphasized that prioritizing the demands expressed during slum gatherings plays a crucial role in shaping the budget.

During these gatherings, participants have voiced diverse concerns to their elected representatives. Skill training, road construction, sewage disposal, and electricity problems are among the common issues raised by the locals. The selection of plans occurs through various stages following the establishment of local governance.

The local administration is scheduled to receive financial transfer blueprints, budget and program formulation guidance from the union and provinces by April/May (Baisakh). Subsequently, in the second phase, resource estimates and the total budget limit will be determined by the end of June/July (Aasardha).

The diligent efforts undertaken by the local level of Kanchanpur in preparing the budget reflect their commitment to address the needs of the community and ensure effective resource allocation. It is expected that the forthcoming budget will address key concerns raised by the residents, fostering development and improving the overall quality of life in the region.
