Heatwave Grips Dhangadhi as Temperatures Soar to 40.3 Degrees Celsius

Dhangadhi: Dhangadhi, Kailali, and Kanchanpur experience an unprecedented heatwave as the mercury reaches scorching heights, with Dhangadhi recording a temperature of 40.3 degrees Celsius. The situation has prompted concerns over the rising heat levels in these regions.
According to the Air and Water Field Office in Attaria, Dhangadhi encountered a sweltering temperature of 40.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday. However, the city experienced a significant drop of 40 degrees on Thursday, as reported by the same office. The maximum temperature registered in Dhangadhi on Saturday reached 40.3 degrees Celsius, accompanied by a minimum temperature of 23.6 degrees Celsius at 3:00 p.m.

The relentless heatwave shows no signs of relenting as the districts of Kailali and Kanchanpur in the Terai region of the far west anticipate yet another week of temperatures surpassing the 40-degree mark. This prolonged heatwave has caused concerns among locals and authorities alike, as it poses potential risks to public health and agricultural productivity.

However, relief might be in sight as meteorologists predict a drop in temperatures for these two districts starting from next Thursday. Furthermore, there is a possibility of partial rain in the region, bringing some respite to the sweltering conditions.

The scorching heatwave gripping Dhangadhi, Kailali, and Kanchanpur serves as a stark reminder of the escalating impact of global climate change. Authorities and residents are urged to take necessary precautions to mitigate the adverse effects of the extreme heat, while keeping a watchful eye on the forthcoming weather developments.
