Attariya Market Shuts Down, Demanding Establishment of University in Geta
Dhangadhi: In response to the appeal made by the Struggle Committee for the establishment of Martyr Dashrath Chand National University of Health Sciences in Geta, the Attariya market observed a shutdown today.
The closure of Attariya market was organized as part of the scheduled shutdown program initiated by the Sangharsh Samiti in Godavari Nagar area. Dharam Singh Koonwar, Secretary of the Sangharsh Samiti, stated that the shutdown, which commenced at 8 a.m., would persist until 6 p.m. While the market initially opened in the morning, it was subsequently closed after 8 o'clock. Although the strikers have enforced the market closure, vehicular movement continues partially.
The Committee has been demanding the establishment of Shaheed Dashrath Chand National Health Sciences University in Geta, in accordance with the government's approval on February 12, 2023 (Magh 29, 2079 BS) and the policy and program announced on May 19, 2022 (Jestha 5, 2079 BS). The protest programs were initiated by the Sangharsh Committee following the government's announcement that it intends to construct a foundation in Geta and operate a hospital with only 100 beds, as mentioned in the budget presented to the Parliament on May 29, 2023 (Jestha 15, 2080 BS).
