District Administration Urges Baitadi Local Levels to Develop Disaster Management Plan within 15 Days

Baitadi: Baitadi district has received a vital directive from the district administration, emphasizing the urgent need for local levels to establish a comprehensive disaster management plan within a span of 15 days.

Under the chairmanship of Suresh Panthi, the Chief District Officer and Coordinator of the District Disaster Management Committee, a meeting was convened at the District Administration Office on Sunday. Attended by all 10 local level chiefs and deputy chiefs, the gathering resolved to draft a localized disaster preparedness and response plan within the stipulated 15-day timeframe. The completed plan is to be submitted to the Secretariat of the District Disaster Management Committee for review.

Furthermore, the local levels have been urged to compile a comprehensive report documenting their disaster preparedness, prevention, and response efforts undertaken during the current fiscal year. This report must be submitted to the district administration office no later than June 25th. The meeting also mandated the submission of records pertaining to disaster response materials to the district disaster management authorities. Recognizing the imminent risks posed by the upcoming monsoon season, the meeting resolved to identify areas susceptible to monsoon-related disasters and facilitate the necessary preparations accordingly.

To achieve this objective, all relevant agencies have been instructed to diligently prepare in their respective jurisdictions. Additionally, proactive measures have been advised to control the spread of lumpy skin disease among domestic animals in the far western districts, including Baitadi. In light of this, the veterinary branches at the appropriate levels are expected to take effective and immediate action.

This directive aims to enhance the disaster resilience of Baitadi district and underscores the importance of timely and coordinated disaster management efforts at the local level.
