Orientation Program Held in Kanchanpur to Combat Measles-Rubella

Kanchanpur: Kanchanpur recently witnessed an important orientation program aimed at reducing the prevalence of measles-rubella disease in the region. Organized in partnership between the health branch of Krishnapur municipality and the Nepal Red Cross Society, the program is a proactive step towards achieving the goal of minimizing measles cases in Southeast Asia by 2026 AD.

During the event, Dropati Rana, the deputy head of the municipality, highlighted the urgency of raising awareness about measles as an epidemic disease. Rana emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts at all levels to effectively combat the disease, stating that the responsibility lies not only with a single municipality, but with collective action.

Despite the implementation of regular vaccination campaigns, measles continues to persist, prompting the municipality to conduct this program to further reduce the disease by 2026 AD. Ratan Singh Bisht, the head of the municipality's health department, stressed the importance of preventative measures, as measles can be life-threatening, particularly for children.

Participants of the program received training from Bista, the head of the health branch, covering topics such as the nature of measles, the goals and challenges involved in reducing its prevalence, the implications of measles-rubella, and the campaign's objectives. The comprehensive training spanned three days.

The program, chaired by Mayor Hemraj Ojha, garnered the presence of officials from the vaccination coordination committee, executive members, heads and representatives of various municipal branches, health workers, and representatives from numerous organizations.

This orientation program serves as a promising initiative in the collective fight against measles-rubella, emphasizing the significance of community-wide efforts and proactive measures to safeguard public health.
