Five individuals apprehended for customs evasion in Kanchanpur
Dhangadhi: Authorities have detained five individuals in Kanchanpur on charges of smuggling goods to evade customs. The arrests took place on Wednesday afternoon in front of the electricity office in Bhimdatta Municipality, Ward No. 10 of the district.
A police team dispatched from the local Gaddachouki area police office successfully seized a cache of contraband items, including five bicycles, cooking oil, sugar, sweets, biscuits, salt, chili peppers, gram, cloth, and tobacco, with an estimated value of approximately NPR 61,965.
As per the Kanchanpur police, the seized goods, including Mansi, were intercepted while being illicitly transported from India without going through customs procedures. The arrested individuals have been identified as Karan Chand, Tejsingh Dhami, Dhan Bahadur Chand, Nakul Chand, and Basudev Bhatt, all residents of Bhimdatta Municipality, Ward No. 7.
Nepal Police officials have handed over the suspects, along with the recovered goods, to the Gaddachouki Customs Office for further necessary legal action
