Dhangadhi: In Kailali, a staggering number of 244 complaints have been officially recorded regarding meter bagging, an illicit practice of deceptive financial transactions. Following the government's call to report cases of meter bagging, 244 victims of such fraudulent activities have lodged complaints at the District Administration Office in Kailali.

Authorities have announced that complainants will be summoned to the district administration office to facilitate case resolution. Legal proceedings, including investigations into money laundering and other relevant charges, will be pursued against those found culpable. The victims decided to bring their grievances to the administration after discovering that the meter bag moneylenders had prepared documents indicating inflated loan amounts, thereby claiming ownership of properties, including houses, in Ghaderi under their own names. Astonishingly, this occurred even when the loans had been fully repaid, leaving the victims trapped in a cycle of debt.

In response to the rampant meter bagging issue, the government swiftly implemented legislation against unfair transactions through an ordinance and promptly initiated the process of receiving complaints from affected individuals.
