Dhangadhi: Tensions have escalated among transport businessmen in Kailali as a dispute unfolded between individuals operating public transportation services from Dhangadhi Bursacap. The altercation stemmed from the failure to implement a previously agreed-upon decision regarding the operation of transport services through a one-day system.

For the past 14 months, several transport companies collaborated as a united front. However, the departure of Anantaraj Joshi, Chairman of Khaptad Transport Pvt. Ltd., sparked a fresh controversy. Padam Sapkota, President of Sundar Sudurpaschim Transport Pvt. Ltd., accused Joshi of acting against the collective decision made by the transport businessmen. Sapkota highlighted the precarious situation faced by transport businessmen and emphasized their concerted efforts to salvage the industry. They proposed the implementation of a rotational system to mitigate cutthroat competition. Additionally, they stressed their adherence to government regulations and disclosed plans for a two-year transitional period.

Sapkota expressed concerns about the potential risks of accidents arising from the intense rivalry between transporters. However, Joshi, Chairman of Khaptad Transport Pvt. Ltd., claimed that the agreed-upon decision made within the collective group was not being enforced. Despite multiple attempts to urge the implementation of the decision, Joshi stated that his pleas were disregarded for a period of five months. Furthermore, he demanded the phasing out of outdated buses currently operating on long-distance routes originating from Dhangadhi.

This clash of opinions among the transport businessmen has ignited a contentious situation, where the unresolved dispute remains a point of contention, jeopardizing the stability and future operations of the transportation sector in Dhangadhi.
