Two individuals detained for smuggling chicken from India in Kanchanpur
Kanchanpur: Two individuals have been apprehended in Kanchanpur for attempting to smuggle chicken from India. The suspects were detained in Belauri after being caught with 200 kg of boiler chicken, which is banned in Nepal.
The individuals, identified as 40-year-old Kisan Rana from Belauri Municipality-7 and 43-year-old Jawahar Rana from Ward No. 4 Richhah, were arrested while transporting the chicken from India to Nepal on two motorcycles with the registration numbers SE 5 P 8001 and SE 3 P 6325.
The seized chickens, worth over NPR 50,000, were destroyed at the Animal Quarantine in Belauri. The confiscated motorcycles are currently being processed by the Trinagar Customs Office. Representatives from local trade associations, public representatives, locals, and journalists were present during the disposal of the seized chickens.
Further investigation into the matter is ongoing, according to the police.
