Dhangadhi: A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck Kuldevma in Bajura, Nepal, at 1:12 pm local time today. Bajura has been experiencing a series of earthquakes prior to this incident. The earthquake measuring center in Surkhet reported that an earthquake of 3.6 magnitude occurred with Jugada as the epicenter of the municipality in Badimalika earlier.

The western region of Nepal has witnessed a higher frequency of earthquakes compared to other areas in the country. The Far West region is particularly at high risk of earthquakes, according to Sharma, an expert in the field. The earthquake measuring center has reported that an earthquake of 3.6 magnitude occurred on Monday with its epicenter in Badimalika.

Out of the 15 earthquakes that have hit the western part of the country, Bajura has experienced the highest number of earthquakes, six times. The earthquake in Karthik 22 in Doti district caused human casualties, with houses and public buildings collapsing and becoming uninhabitable. The earthquake victims are currently residing in Tripal or are forced to live in damaged houses.

The Earthquake Measurement Center reports that out of the 16 earthquakes, 12 are in various demands of Far Western Province, and four are in various demands of Karnali Province. More than 1,000 tremors of four Richter scales have occurred, according to the center. In Kartik, a powerful earthquake of local magnitude 6.6 occurred in Doti district, resulting in six fatalities.

According to geologists, there is a significant amount of energy stored in the ground in West Nepal due to the absence of a major earthquake for over 500 years. While an earthquake of local magnitude 6.6 occurred in Doti district last November, the Bajura earthquake was considered a separate earthquake rather than an aftershock. The management of those affected by the earthquake has not yet been carried out, leaving them feeling terrified.
