74 people disappeared in Baitadi in nine months

Baitadi: During the current financial year, 74 individuals, including 47 women, have been reported missing in Baitadi, a district located on the border with India. These figures have been disclosed by the District Police Office, indicating a concerning trend. 

Police Inspector Yogesh Khatri, Baitadi Police Spokesperson, reported that out of the 47 missing women, 30 have been found. Additionally, out of 18 missing girls, seven were found, whereas out of four missing boys, three were located. However, out of five missing men, only one has been found, as confirmed by the Baitadi District Police Office.

Police Inspector Khatri explained that some missing women and children were recovered as a result of police operations, while others were found due to the efforts of their families. Despite being informed when individuals went missing, the police reported that many cases of individuals being found were not reported to them. To locate the missing persons, the subordinate police station in the district and neighboring districts are collaborating in the search, using pictures and correspondence. 

Given the district's proximity to India, the border crossing has been tightened to assist in the search. The situation remains under close observation. Border crossing has also been tightened.
