Vinod Kunwar, Vice President of Byans Rural Municipality, said that a memorandum has been submitted with the demand for the operation of Tinkar checkpoint and the demand that more budget should be allocated for Tinkar Road and that the government should pay attention to the overall development of Byans Rural Municipality. The traditional trade and traffic from Sadiyou to Taklakot in China through the Tinkar crossing of Darchula has been closed since 2020 due to the Covid epidemic.
Due to the non-operation of the Tinkar crossing, the livelihood of more than four dozen traders and hundreds of local residents living in Byans area of Darchula district is directly affected. "Since Rasuwagadhi, Hilsa and other checkpoints are being prepared for operation this year, we strongly request the Nepal government to open the Tinker checkpoint immediately and to address the needs of the residents of the border areas of Darchula and to facilitate the livelihood of the locals," the memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister said.
Since it is possible to conduct a pilgrimage to the holy Kailash Mansarovar through Tinkar crossing, it is possible to conduct it cheaply and in less time.
