Three Star Club wins Khaptad Gold Cup
Dhangadhi: Three Star Club has won the sixth International Invitation Chief Minister Sudur Paschim Khaptad Gold Cup.
Three Star won the title by defeating the previous edition's winner Manang Marshyangdi Club by 2-0 in the final held at the regional stadium in Dhangadhi, Kailali. Brikam Lama and Anil Maharjan scored goals to give Three Star the title. In the 73rd minute of the game, Anil Maharjan gave Three Star an early lead through a free kick.
In the injury time of the game, Bikram Lama ensured the victory of Three Star by scoring a header. Three Star's Anil Maharjan was chosen as the 'SPA Man of the Match' in the final match. He got 10,000 prize. Along with the title, Three Star has received 21 lakh rupees. Manang, who became the runner-up, received 10 lakh rupees. Three stars also dominated in the award of the departmental side.
Three Star captain Bikram Lama was the best player of the tournament. He received a cash prize of Rs. Mohammed Taha of Three Star was the best goalkeeper. Outstanding Defender was Peter Segun of Three Star, Best Coach was Meghraj KC of Three Star. Similarly, Vishan Gurung of Manang and Saiijmal of Manang were declared the best midfielders. The best in the department received Rs. 15,000.
Dipendra Malasi of Sudurpaschim-11 was selected as the emerging player. He got a prize of 25 thousand rupees. The Sudurpaschim State Government is the main promoter of this competition, which is organized by Sudurpaschim-11 KhaSports Club. Prakash Bahadur Deuba, Minister of Physical Infrastructure Development of the state government, who was the chief guest of the closing ceremony of the competition, presented cash and trophies to the winners. He said that this competition will be taken as a regular program of the state government.
Suresh Hamal, president of the organizing club, thanked everyone who made the tournament a grand success.
