Budal case: Four people including the outgoing ward president were jailed
Baitadi: Four people accused of murdering 25-year-old Jeevan Budal of Dasharathchand Municipality-10 Khadeni of Baitadi have been sent to jail for preliminary investigation. Baitadi district court has ordered the four people accused of murdering Budal to be sent to prison for preliminary investigation.
The bench of Justice Jayanand Paneru has issued an order to keep Narayan Singh Airi (brother of the deceased), Arjun Singh Rawal, Bhimsingh Thagunna and Gajendra Singh Rawal in custody pending trial. Gajendrasingh Rawal is the outgoing ward president of Dasharathchand Municipality-6. He contested for the post of Mayor of Dasharathchand Municipality on behalf of the Nepali Congress in this local level election.
On 13 February, Budal, who had gone for a picnic with his friends and acquaintances, was found dead in the Chaulani river in Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-4, Jadabagar. Budal, who is working as an assistant director of the National Research Department in Bajhang, went on a picnic with his friends when he came home on leave.
After he was found dead mysteriously in the Chaulani river, his wife Anisha filed a complaint against 12 people who had gone on a picnic together in the case of duty killing. Tehsildar Tirtharaj Acharya said that the district court ordered the release of three of the 12 murder accused on a normal date. According to him, Mohansingh Thagunna, Keshavsingh Rawal and Bhuwanram Luhar have been released on date. Luhar is a jeep driver.
Five accused have been released on bail. Dipendrasingh Airi, Pushparaj Bhatt and Tejsingh Khatri were released on bail of Rs. 150,000. Similarly, Navinsingh Thagunna and Shyamsingh Airi have been released after paying a bond of Rs. 50,000. Budal, who had gone for a picnic with 11 friends on Saturday morning on February 13, was found dead at 9 pm.
Budal, who works at the National Investigation Office Bajhang, went on a picnic when he came home for a holiday.
