Road blocked for bridge construction in Kanchanpur

Dhangadhi: Traffic has been stopped on the under-construction four-lane concrete bridge over the Mahakali river in Kanchanpur. The traffic has been stopped as the construction of the walls has started on both sides of the bridge. The bridge has been closed to traffic since Friday. Kishore Pandey, the engineer of the bridge construction company Kumar Shrestha CFC JV, said that even large vehicles and pedestrians were stopped in the area.

According to him, traffic on the bridge has been closed for 20 days. Engineer Pandey said that the road has been blocked due to the construction of a wings wall on both sides, and work is being done to open it in the new year.

The residents of Dodhara Chandni are in trouble after traffic was stopped on the concrete bridge. Small vehicles and pedestrians will have to travel through the suspension bridge. Large vehicles will be stopped. Locals say that there is a lot of trouble when the bridge is closed. They complain that it is difficult to transport vegetables. His locals say that even if there are two lanes out of four lanes, they should be kept open.

While the construction of the bridge was going on, the construction company made a diversion about two years ago to facilitate the movement of the residents of Dodhara Chandni in Mahakalipari. After the previous year's severe flood destroyed the access road, traffic was interrupted for some time and was resumed after the construction of the road.

After the construction of the wall on both sides, the work of the bridge will be completed. Now, along with the construction of the wall, the work of the pond to be built on both sides of the bridge is going on. Engineer Pandey said that the access road work is also in the final stage. According to him, only about four to five hundred meters of access road construction work is left on both sides of the bridge. An 8.5 km access road has to be constructed from Gaddachouki to the malaria drain of Dodhara-Chandni.

On the east side of the bridge, the construction of a pond towards Bhimdatta Municipality is going on. According to the construction company, the goal is to complete the work of the pond before the rainy season. After the monsoon, a pond will be constructed on the west side towards Dodhara Chandni. According to the design of the bridge, two ponds of 600 meters in width and 2600 meters in length will have to be constructed on both sides. The under-construction four-lane concrete bridge to be built at Dodhara Chandni is considered the major infrastructure of the dry port.
