Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah receives the vote of confidence

Dhangadhi: In the Far-West, the government has been formed with the support of a two-thirds majority in the province. Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah received a vote of confidence with two-thirds of the votes. Chief Minister Shah, who took the vote of confidence today, has been given a vote of confidence by the CPN-Maoist Center, Nagarik Unmukti Party, and CPN-Integrated Samajbadi.

Leaders of all three parties gave their vote of confidence to Chief Minister Shah in the state assembly meeting which started at 1 pm. In the 53-member state assembly, there are 19 from the Nepali Congress, 10 from the Maoist Center, 7 from the Nagarik Unmukti, 4 from the CPN-S, and 1 independent. Thus, 41 votes have been obtained in favor of the Chief Minister.

CPN-UML and RPP are in the opposition which decided not to vote for Chief Minister Shah. In the provincial assembly, there are 10 MPs including the deputy speaker of UML. Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has received the vote of confidence. Shah may have received a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly meeting on Sunday. Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari announced that Chief Minister Shah had received the vote of confidence. 41 provincial MPs have voted in favor of Shah. 11 MPs voted against them.

52 state parliamentarians were present in the vote of confidence. Shah got more than two-thirds of the votes. In the case of the Far West, this is a historic opinion. Earlier, the first term Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatta had the support of 37 MPs of the then CPN.

The Congress-led government has been given a vote of confidence by Maoists, Nagarik Unmukti, CPN United Socialists, and Independent MPs.

CPN-UML and RPP did not give a vote of confidence to Shah. Shah was appointed as the Chief Minister and the leader of the parliamentary party of the largest party in the Parliament on 26th January according to Clause 3 of Article 168 of the Constitution. With this, the Congress-led Far West Province government has survived. Rajendra Singh Rawal of UML, who was appointed Chief Minister earlier on 27th December, was dismissed within 29 days after the Nagarik Unmukti party supported by him did not pass a vote of confidence.
