Seeds distributed to farmers in Kanchanpur

Kanchanpur: Krishnapur municipality of Kanchanpur has distributed paddy and maize seeds to the farmers with subsidy. In a program held at the Somwar Municipality premises, Deputy Mayor Dropathi Rana handed over the seeds to the farmers. The agriculture branch has given 80 percent subsidy to the farmers on rice seeds and 50 percent on maize seeds.

The agriculture branch of the municipality has distributed 546 kg of paddy and 485 kg of maize seeds to various farmer groups and farmers. After handing over the seeds, Municipal Deputy Chief Dropati Rana said that the municipality has started subsidizing the seeds to make the farmers use the vacant land and keep them busy.

She urged farmers to make good use of subsidized seeds, as Krishnapur is a fertile land in terms of agricultural production. Ganesh Ojha, agricultural technician of the municipality, said that since the financial year 2076/077, Krishnapur has been providing the seeds needed by the farmers as a subsidy in different seasons.

Agricultural technician Ganesh Ojha said that the number of farmers is increasing after the municipality started giving seeds every year at a reasonable price. Earlier, the municipality had given subsidy on vegetable seeds to the farmers who cultivated wheat, mushroom and onion. Kailash Bahadur Balayar, chairman of Ward No. 9, was the chairman in the seed distribution program under the grant, while Dropati Rana, deputy chief of Krishnapur municipality, was the chief guest.
