Dhangadhi: The risk of accidents has increased in Kailali. Due to unsafe traffic, major traffic accidents occur every year.

An inquiry committee is formed after every major road accident, but the report with recommendations is never implemented. Every year more than 100 people die in road accidents in the province. Four hundred have been seriously injured. The graph for accidents and damages is increasing every year. The government forms a committee to investigate and suggest mitigation measures after every major vehicle accident. However, those reports have not been implemented.

The damage caused by road accidents is frequent. Pravin Dhital, head of the Sudurpaschim Province Traffic Police Office, said that it is not possible to reduce the number of accidents with the sole initiative of the traffic police. The number of vehicles is increasing at the rate of 20 to 25 percent every year. New drivers have increased exponentially.

Along with the traffic police, other related agencies also need to start implementing the arrangements and reports made for traffic safety. In the last five years, 962 people died in 2,334 accidents in the Far West. The Parliamentary Committee of the Federal Government suggested banning vehicles older than 20 years and setting up a trauma center in the state to treat the injured.

In the report, there were suggestions that emergency rescue services should be established on every 100 kilometers of highways in the plains and every 50 kilometers in the mountains, air ambulances should be arranged for emergency treatment after accidents, and the license distribution system should be made timely and reliable. But it has not yet been implemented.

The damage caused by a car accident is huge. The formation of a road safety council should be made mandatory, there should be a trauma center, severe punishment should be given to those who violate road safety rules, timely review of penalties, regular inspection and maintenance of vehicles, and experienced drivers should be mandatory, not allowing more passengers than the number of seats in the vehicle Although it is mentioned in the report that the driving of old vehicles should be banned and the license distribution system should be made timely and reliable, it has not been implemented.
