Students continue to protest in Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi: In Dhangadhi, students are protesting in an area where curfew is issued. District Administration Office Kailali had issued a curfew from 7 pm on Thursday to 7 pm on Friday.
 

Although the administration has declared curfew in Dhangadhi for 24 hours, the students have been protesting since Friday morning. The administration had declared Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city-1 Old Phulbari Bus Park (Pushpalal Chowk) in the east, Dhangadhi-4 Ratopul in the west, Dhangadhi-5 Community Police Service Center building in the north and Postal Highway Dhangadhi-1 and 2 in the south as prohibited areas. Students are protesting at Devoti Chowk.
 

Chetna Saund, a 14-year-old student studying in class 8 of Panchodaya High School, died yesterday after being trampled by a grader in Dhangadhi near Hasanpur Pipalchautara, south of Taranagar, after being trampled by a grader of No. 1 K 975 owned by Kalika Construction. The driver of the grater allegedly killed the student after injuring her. The deceased was riding a cycle when she was hit by the grater, she fell down but had not died but the driver allegedly backed the grater to kill Saud.
 

In case of a death caused by an accident the vehicle owner is obligated by law to pay Rs 5 lakh as compensation but if the injured person survives, the vehicle owner is expected to bear their medical expenses and provide for them throughout their lifetime if they become differently abled.
 

After Saud's death, the students started protesting. They demonstrated by burning tires on the road. During the protest, some students were detained by the police. The driver of the grader has been detained by the police and is being investigated.
