Dengue cases on a decrease in Far-West

Baitadi: So far, three people have died of dengue in Far-West.

According to Hemraj Joshi, contact person for pest control of Sudurpaschim Health Directorate, two people died in Kailali and one in Achham due to dengue. The infection has been confirmed in 1,272 people across the province.

Joshi said that 430 people were infected in Kailali, 214 in Kanchanpur, 332 in Darchula, 84 in Doti, 73 in Baitadi, 40 each in Dadeldhura and Achham, 33 in Bajhang and 27 in Bajura.

Dengue infection caused by mosquito bites has been decreasing recently. Dr. Dipesh Shrestha, head of District Hospital Baitadi, said that although the infection is more common during summer and rainy season, the number of patients has decreased. He said, "During the rainy season patients has to be  admitted to the hospital and treated." Currently, that risk has decreased."
