Demand to declare dolphin protected area in Kailali

Dhangadhi: There is a demand to declare the area where dolphins are being seen in Kailali as a dolphin protected area. It has been demanded to be declared a dolphin protected area by the conservationists covering the area of Tikapur, Bhajani municipality. More dolphins are seen in Tikapur municipality-7, Dhungana tole in Baidi, Bhajani municipality-8, 3 etc.

During the rainy season, conservationists have demanded that the declaration of a dolphin protected area is necessary to protect the existence of these rare aquatic animals that appear in rivers such as Mohana, Pathraiya, Kanda, Kandra etc. Conservationist Bhojraj Dhungana said that conservation activities should be systematically carried forward and protected areas should be declared for management.

Similarly, Gokul Rijal, Head of Division Forest Office, Pahalmanpur, said that if everyone cooperates and coordinates, the area where dolphins are seen can be declared a dolphin protected area. "The state government can declare the Dolphin Circuit area of Karnali and Vasantha Corridor as a protected area on everyone's initiative," he said.

According to Mayor Ramlal Dangaura Tharu, the area where dolphins are found is a model area of Tikapur Municipality. He promised to work as much as possible with the resources of Tikapur municipality to identify and develop this area as a tourist area.
