There will be no Dashain festival and sacrifice at Baitadi's Udaya Dev Temple

Baitadi: There will be no Dashain festival this year at the famous Siddhanath-Udayadeva Temple in Patan, Baitadi. Bhandev Bhatta, secretary of the Siddhanath-Udaydev Religious Service Committee, said that there will be no festival at the temple as the eldest son of the chief priest of the temple has passed away.

Chairman of the committee Lal Bahadur Chand said that it was decided to hold a meeting and call off the Jatra due to the quarrel at the house of the chief priest. President Chand said that another priest Shivdutt Joshi, who was the substitute of the main priest, was also unwell and said that he could not perform the puja.

In that temple, where worship starts from Ghatasthapana of Dasain, there used to be Jatra on the day of Mahanavami with animal sacrifice. Bhatt said that the main puja and Ranga sacrifice has been stopped this year.
