Dhangadhi: The government started the 'Sakshar Nepal Abhiyan' program a decade ago. However, two districts in the Far West have not yet been declared literate.

Seven districts of the province have been declared fully literate after introducing the program to declare Nepal fully literate within two years in the budget and program of the financial year 2075/76 BS. However, the Education and Human Resource Development Center under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said that Kanchanpur and Doti literate districts of the province are yet to be declared.

According to the center, the program has been launched to make the homes, families and communities literate by mobilizing students and making them literate by producing and distributing learning materials including the 12 indicators of literacy.

There is a provision to declare a literate district and a literate municipality if 95 percent of citizens aged 15 to 60 years are found to be literate in the respective district and municipality.
