Free 'Haliya' of Dadeldhura Awaiting Management
Dadeldhura: The freed 'Haliyas' (people working on the peoples land) of Dadeldhura have said that even after 14 years, the problem of regular living and income generation has not been solved by the state. They said this at a program organized on the occasion of the 14th Haliyamukt Day on Saturday at Dadeldhura headquarters.
They complain that they have to live the same lifestyle and even now because the government does not manage it. Dan singh Pal, the founding president of the Haliya Mahasangha, said that it is sad that the government is failing in the management even when the Haliyas are freed. Similarly, Bhim Kaini, campaigner and leader of Andalen of Haliya Mukt, also said that even though the state freed Haliyas, it did not think about their condition and employment. They say that they are hoping for management from the government and the country.
Nar Bahadur Sanki, president of Amargadhi-8, who was present at the program jointly organized by FCA, Integrated Development Society and Haliya Federation of Dadeldhura, said that the situation in Haliya is the same because of the forces within Haliya.
Similarly, Ward No. 5 Chairman Tank Prasad Chhetri said that since education is mandatory for the children of the freed families, he will play a role with the help of his ward and municipality. The chief guest of the program, Deputy Mayor of Amargadhi Municipality, Parvati Jhukal, said that the municipality would provide all possible support for the management of free haliyas.
