Food crisis in Bajura

Bajura: There is a food crisis in the Himalayan rural municipality of Bajura. The food crisis arose when the contractor did not transport the rice on time. Dhanlal Rokaya, a local, said that there has been a food crisis for months as the contractor did not transport the agreed rice to the Kawadi temporary depot in Himali village.

The locals have been forced to return empty-handed after running out of rice at the Kawadi temporary depot in Himali rural municipality. For Kawadi temporary depot, it was 4500 quintals in this financial year. However, the contractor was carrying only 2800 rice. Himali is a fortified rural municipality of Bajura.

It takes a week to reach this rural municipality from the district headquarters Martadi. Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Prakash Chandra Adhikar said that information has been received that rice has run out in Kawadi. He said that he has directed the concerned office for transportation of such rice.
