Passing through at Gauriphanta checkpoint will be made convenient: PM Deuba
Dhangadhi: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that citizens should not suffer while passing through the Gauriphanta checkpoint. On Saturday, Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan mayor Gopal Hamal complained that the civilians and tourists had to run into four checkpoints including Armed forces of Kanchanpur and Kailali and the Nepal Police had at the border checkpoint.
"The problem has arisen due to double security checks by Kanchanpur and Kailali districts Armed force checkpoints while coming from Gauriphanta. As before, only the Kailali police should make arrangements for the checkpoint," said Mayor Hamal.
On the same issue, Prime Minister Deuba said that the government would make arrangements for security checks at Kailali district by coordinating with the Ministry of Home Affairs for easy movement of citizens. "We should talk to Mahendranagar. Give rights to Kailali too, give rights to both. If not from here, I would like to assure you that I will go to the Home Ministry and give rights to Kailali directly. This is not to make the people sad, it is to make the people happy." Prime Minister Deuba said.
Tourists have been demanding that the Armed Forces of the same district and Nepal Police be deployed at Gauriphanta-Trinagar checkpoint for the smooth movement of Indian tourists. The Kailali police was stationed at the Gauriphanta-Trinagar border checkpoint till August 28, 2020 (Bhadra 12, 2077 BS).
