Dhangadhi: A person who was undergoing treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital has died of mucomycosis (black fungus).

A 65-year-old man from Bardagoria-6, Tulsipur of Kailali has died while undergoing treatment at the hospital since June 30. He died at 7 am on Thursday, said Dilip Kumar Shrestha, information officer of Seti Provincial Hospital.

The hospital said that they conducted a biopsy on him and he was diagnosed with black fungus and exhibited symptoms. Mucormycosis (black fungus) is a type of fungus found naturally in our environment and soil. The risk of this infection, which is generally considered rare, is higher in humid places.

When a person's immune system is weak, the risk of infection increases. This infection is rare, but if the infection is serious, it can be fatal, so it is necessary to take precautions.
