Dhangadhi: Our city sadly lost a pillar on Saturday, May 15, when Mr. Gagan Raj Bhatta passed away from natural causes at the age of 91.

His contribution to our society includes the establishment of Aishwarya Vidya Niketan and Kailali Chamber of Commerce and Industries in Dhangadhi.

He was also known for practicing law and fighting cases at the District Court, Dhangadhi, although he did not have a formal degree of law.

He was determined to improve the education system in the region therefore he invited teachers from Darjeeling and accommodated them for two years in his house after the establishment of Aishwarya Vidya Niketan.

He was also a prominent part of the Nepali Congress and called himself a revolutionary, “I was also sent to jail since I was a part of the Nepali Congress when it was developing as a party under B.P Koirala’s leadership. We had democratic views and strongly wanted a democratic nation.

However, now the party seems to have mixed up its purpose, we are a democracy and it needs to work as a democracy not as a communist. We may be from different parties but if we believe in democracy then we are on the same team.” Few months ago he gave an interview to Dineshkhabar where he spoke about the history of Far-West written and researched by him.

We are attaching the link below kindly take a look at the video where he shares his experiences and wisdom.
