Dhangadhi: Preparations have been intensified to use the Nepal Army Hospital in Dhangadhi, Kailali for the treatment of Coronavirus patients.

The hospital was initially constructed to provide treatment to Army personnel and their family members. However, due to the current situation preparations are underway to treat the patients of Coronavirus.

At this time, the hospitals in the Far-Western states are full of patients suffering from Coronavirus. The state's referral Seti Provincial Hospital is currently treating patients in every nook and corner of the hospital, yet there are many patients who are facing dearth of beds in hospitals across the state.

Therefore, the far-western contingent of the Nepal Army has intensified its preparations to run their hospital to serve the patients of Coronavirus. The state government had been searching for a place since the first week of April after the hospitals here started filling up with infected people.

Meanwhile, Dineshkhabar had published articles suggesting that the army hospital under construction could become a possible place for treatment. Far-Western Commander of the Nepal Army, Nirmal Kumar Thapa informed that rapid preparations are underway to reduce the pressure of patients in other hospitals.

He said that the target is to serve 40,000-50,000 Coronavirus patients in Far-West. The Far-Western government had requested the army hospital to treat the infected and has also provided Rs 30 lakh to give services.

Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Prakash Shah, who is also the spokesperson of the state government, said that Rs 30 lakh has been provided from the state corona fund to run the service. The army said that the construction of physical infrastructure has not been completed yet.

Earlier, the Nepal Army had planned to provide gynecology, pediatrics, physiotherapy, dentistry, general medicine, surgery and other services at the hospital under construction. The operation had been delayed due to lack of manpower and health equipment.

In particular, it was said that the Nepal Army was planning to make it available only to the army personnel and their families. However, the hospital is being built with the joint investment of the Army Welfare Fund and the Government of Nepal to assist patients of Coronavirus.
