Dhangadhi: The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) has requested for actions to be taken against former Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Jhapat Bahadur Bohara who left the party to join the CPN-UML.

He was elected as the member of the provincial assembly from Achham constituency no. 1 (b). However, after his recent decision to join the CPN-M, the UCPN-M of Far-Western Provincial Committee had requested him to submit an explanation within 24-hour on April 7, but he failed to do so.

Therefore, he was recommended to the Central Committee for action to be taken in accordance to the Political Parties Act on April 12, informed the State Committee Secretary Nep Bahadur Chaudhary. Bohara was also a member of the Central Advisory Committee and he sided with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli after the dispute escalated in the CPN (Maoist).

Former Minister Bohara resigned from the post on January 6. According to the legal provision he can only be replaced after actions are taken against him. It was revealed that a by-election will be held to replace him as there are two years left for the term to end for a provincial assembly member.
