Kanchanpur: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli laid the foundation stone for Daiji Chhela Industrial Area.
Prime Minister Oli, who reached Kanchanpur by a Nepal Army helicopter, laid the foundation stone of the industrial zone some time ago. With the Prime Minister laying the foundation stone, the construction of the industrial zone is now expected to speed up.
The decision to establish an industrial zone was passed in 2052 during former Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari’s term but, the construction work had not begun.
The industrial zone is expected to be completed within five years at a cost of Rs 9 billion. Although the Bedkot Municipality has provided 900 bighas of land for the establishment of the industrial zone, the physical infrastructures will only be built on 400 bighas of land at present.
According to the DPR of the industrial sector 117, small, medium and large scale industries will be established in 124 plots from which more than 30,000 people will get employment. The ownership for 200 hectares in Janachetana Community Forest and 450 hectares in Bedkot Community Forest has been transferred to Balaju Industrial Limited.
A high-level team of Industrial Area Management Limited had conducted two studies and submitted its opinion to the Ministry in 2052 BS and 2066 BS, deeming it appropriate to set up an industrial zone in Chhela of Bedkot. It was mentioned in the proposal at that time that 300 small, medium and large scale industries could be run on 293 bighas of land.
