Kailali's CDO says,"Doke Bazar does not fall under my jurisdiction, there is a problem in managing it."
Dhangadhi: Chief District Officer of Dhangadhi-Kailali, Yagya Raj Bohara, has said that there is a problem in making the border checkpoint systematic as Doke Bazar does not fall under his jurisdiction as the Doke Bazar area is in Kanchanpur while there is no prohibitory order issued in Kanchanpur.
‘We have imposed a prohibitory order in Kailali. I can impose a prohibitory order only in Kailali district.,'said Chief District Officer Bohara,' Doke Bazar falls in Kanchanpur. There is no prohibitory order issued in Kanchanpur, the shops are open, it is crowded and lacks management. But, Kailali administration cannot not impose rules as the area falls under Kanchanpur Administration.
He added, "The Kanchanpur Administration has urged Kailali Administration to station the returnees from India at the Kailali border. However, we don’t have enough land to accommodate them. We are unable to construct a holding place for the returnees, he said.
He said that the Kailali Administration had mobilized the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force to rescue returnees from the Doke Bazar area of Kanchanpur. Two hundred and seventy thousand Nepalis entered Nepal through the Trinagar customs checkpoint. While the Kailali Administration coordinated and dropped the returnees to their respective municipalities during the lockdown. Returnees from 63 districts across the country were rescued.
On entering Nepal from Gauriphanta customs of India, one reaches the border of Kanchanpur. The place is called Doke Bazar. Those entering from India are lined up and thermal guns are used to measure their temperature at Doke Bazar.
