Dhangadhi: According to the State's Ministry of Social Development, Coronavirus has been detected in 50 health workers deployed on the front line to control the virus.

9 heath workers working at Bayalpata Hospital in Achham also tested positive. It is suspected that the virus was transmitted through the patients who reached the hospital for treatment. However, the exact source has not been traced. It is said that the infection spread among the health workers and employees working in the hospital due to non-compliance with the health safety standards. Chief of Bayalpata Hospital, Dr. Bikas Gauchan, said that the health workers working at the hospital have started contracting Coronavirus.

Non-emergency services have currently been suspended at Bayalpata Hospital due to which patients suffering from other diseases except Coronavirus are unable to receive treatment.

Dr. Sher Bahadur Kamar, head of the COVID- 19 treatment department at Seti Provincial Hospital, says that health workers should adopt health safety measures to avoid the risk of Coronavirus. There is a risk of transmission via health workers as most of them have not incorporated the basic health care standards. He suggested that health workers and doctors should take precautionary measures including wearing masks, maintaining social distance and using sanitizers to prevent infection.  The concerned bodies should be serious in keeping the health workers safe in the state and preventing the service from being affected, he said.
