Dhangadhi: The flow of water in the Mahakali River has increased due to continuous rains since Tuesday. The Dadeldhura River Water Level Measurement Center has warned that there may be danger in the settlements along side the Mahakali River due to increase in water level.

The water level in the Mahakali River reached 6 meters at 1 pm on Wednesday, according to the Measurement Center. If the water level in the Mahakali River exceeds 5.80, it is considered a warning sign.

The Flood Forecasting Branch under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged the people around the river to remain safe as the water level in the Chure area including Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura and Kanchanpur has increased. According to the flood forecasting branch, there is a risk when the water level reaches 7 meters.

The branch has urged the people living along the river bank and in the flood-prone  area to remain vigilant as there is a sign of increasing flow of water due to continuous rains in the hilly areas.
