6 out of 45 test positive for Coronavirus in Saraswati Mavic quarantine center

A total of 6 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Saraswati Mavic School turned quarantine center at Janaki rural municipality of Kailali. With 2 additional cases today, the total count reaches 6. Previously, 2 cases were confirmed on 22 May and 1 case was confirmed on 25 May. Of the 6 infected people, 4 have come from India, 1 from Itahari and 1 from Banke.

According to the chairman of Janaki Rural Municipality, Pradip Kumar Chaudari, “29 people in the same quarantine have not been tested yet. We quarantined 45 people but only 16 were tested under the RT-PCR rule. The virus was detected in 6 people out of the 16. They are currently undergoing treatment at Tikapur Hospital. I also appealed to the provincial government to test the people that came in contact with the infected but my appeal was totally ignored.”

Nevertheless, chief of the Health Division at the Ministry of Social Development Narendra Karki said, “We are committed to find the people that came in contact with the infected. The people that have come in contact with the infected require to be tested after 7 days.”
