Twenty-nine people commit suicide in Kailali since the lockdown

Twenty-nine people have committed suicide in Kailali since the government issued a lockdown to curb Coronavirus.

Twenty-five people committed suicide by hanging themselves while four others committed suicide by consuming poison. DSP Daksha Kumar Basnet said, “The number of suicide cases has grown exponentially since the lockdown. Many of them were drug addicts that were unable to cope with the withdrawal symptoms. Another reason is illicit relationships.

The police investigation has revealed that married men and women in illicit relationships also choose the path of suicide as coping with the situation at home was getting difficult for them.”
