The government of Far West is expected to carry out programs of pockets and blocks for planting sugarcane, vegetables, potatoes, fruits, oranges, bees, beans, apples, wheat, paddy, ginger and almonds.

However, the implementation of Prime Minister Agriculture Modernisation Project sanctioned in the current fiscal year has yet not started even after four months.

Groups of farmers have to be selected for the block and pocket program to be operated by the project under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Development.

But, they have still not decided on which areas to target. In the current Fiscal Year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperative Land Farming had allocated Rs. 36 crore 85 lakhs for agriculture and Rs. 2 crore 25 lakhs for animal husbandry.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives Khakendra Sharma said, “ The project was implemented by the ministry of agriculture in the state and we are still in the selection phase.”
