Tourist from London admire Far West
The influx of tourists traveling to Far West seems to be increasing as Visit Nepal 2020 is approaching. Foreign tourists have started crossing the Indo Nepal border of Gadachoki and Banbasa on motorbikes. Recently, six British nationals entered Nepal via Gadachowki border on Tuesday.
They said that they were here to explore the Nepalese culture, landscape, food, environment and the Himalayas along with other tourist attractions. They started their journey to Pokhara, Chitwan and Kathmandu on Wednesday.
Richard Cocrill, a mechanic from UK accompanying them to handle problems related to the motorbikes during the journey said," we traveled to New Delhi from London by air and from New Delhi to Dhangadhi on motorbikes. it’s my first time here and I’m excited to explore the Nepali culture, clothes, food and the mountains. I had a pleasant time en route Dhangadhi.
Our roads are wider while, here they are two-way, everything is different here.” Harry Knox, who’s met Nepalese while in London, said that he’s heard a lot about Nepal and is excited to explore. Although, their final destination is Kathmandu they are open to exploring other interesting places they pass by.
“The people here are very warm and helpful, they go out of their way to help, ” said another traveler, John Petter while expressing gratitude for all the help he’s received so far. “I want to travel the world before I get old and this is my first visit to Nepal.”
According to them, the travel companies here have set specific destinations in Nepal. Therefore, they came to Nepal with the help of an Indian Travel Company. Foreign tourists want to explore other areas while traveling but are unaware of it.
They were carrying a paper map of Nepal. Parmanand Bhandari, an entrepreneur working in the tourism sector in Kanchanpur said, “ lack of publicity about tourist destinations in the far west is the main problem affecting the tourism sector of Far West. Foreign tourists were unaware of the tourist attractions in the region as none of the tourist attraction of the region were mentioned in the map that the six of them carried.”
