Dhangadhi: Most public services, including government offices, remain closed during the extended Dashain holidays. Government hospitals across Sudurpaschim Province have also suspended their regular Outpatient Department (OPD) services, although emergency care, treatment for admitted patients and other essential health services continue to operate.

This year, the Dashain holidays span nine days, including Saturday and Sunday. The government declared a public holiday beginning on Ashoj 31, the day of Phulpati. As a result, patients seeking routine health check-ups, consultations with doctors or follow-up visits may have to wait until the holidays end.

As a provincial referral hospital, the facility has ensured continued services for emergency patients, admitted patients and women requiring maternity care. Doctors, nurses and other healthcare personnel have been assigned duties on a rotational basis to maintain these services.

According to the hospital’s Information Officer, Kishor Shrestha, emergency care, CT scans, dialysis and maternity services remain fully operational throughout the Dashain holidays.

Meanwhile, Mahakali Provincial Hospital in Kanchanpur has also suspended its OPD services during the holidays. According to the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Jagadish Joshi, emergency care and other 24-hour services continue to operate despite the closure of the OPD.

The hospitals have stated that all services will resume fully from the 9th of the month.
