Geta’s Shaheed Dasharath Chand University receives 50 MBBS seats, paving way for medical education in Sudurpaschim

Dhangadhi: Shaheed Dasharath Chand Health Science University in Geta, Kailali, has been allocated 50 seats for its MBBS program for the 2083/84 academic session by the Medical Education Commission.

The decision clears the way for MBBS studies to begin in Geta, marking a step toward producing doctors within Sudurpaschim Province, a region that has long awaited the establishment of medical education.

The 28th meeting of the Medical Education Commission, chaired by Prime Minister Balen Shah, allocated a total of 9,691 seats across various levels and subjects at 84 educational institutions nationwide, including the university in Geta.

The Commission stated that it had increased the number of seats across various medical education programs by 418 compared with the previous year.

For the MBBS program alone, the number of seats has increased by 110 this year.
