4 arrested in Kanchanpur with customs evasion goods worth Rs 158,700
Kanchanpur: Four people have been arrested in Kanchanpur with goods imported by evading customs.
Based on confidential information, police recovered sarees, dhotis, suit pieces, kurtis and other items worth an estimated Rs 158,700 hidden inside Kalika Tent House operated by 34-year-old Padam Bhandari of Gulariya Bazaar, Krishnapur Municipality-5, Kanchanpur. Police also seized the motorcycle used to transport the goods and arrested four people, including the tent operator.
Those arrested are tent operator Padam Bhandari and the individuals who brought the goods from India by evading customs — 37-year-old Jit Singh Parki of Ultakham, Bhimdatta Municipality-2, Kanchanpur; 34-year-old Thaneshwor Prasad Joshi of Bhimdatta Municipality-11, Kanchanpur; and 27-year-old Deepak Bhatta of Attariya, Godavari Municipality-1, Kailali.
The District Police Office, Kanchanpur, stated that all four were arrested on Sunday morning by a police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Gulariya, Kanchanpur, and handed over to the Customs Office, Gaddachauki, Kanchanpur, for necessary action.
