Binu Yadav and Niharika Rajput detained for protest outside Baluwatar
Dhangadhi: Police have taken Binu Yadav and Niharika Rajput into custody after they staged a protest outside the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.
According to Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, they were detained for protesting in a restricted area. Police said both had reached Baluwatar dressed in black to demonstrate at a time when Prime Minister Balendra Shah was expected to arrive.
Binu Yadav has been protesting, alleging that police involved in a rape case weakened the investigation and attempted to cover it up, and demanding action against those responsible.
Similarly, Niharika Rajput has been protesting to present her grievances to the government, stating that she has been repeatedly beaten and tortured by her husband.
Earlier, Yadav and Rajput had also protested in front of the main entrance of Singha Durbar, demanding time to meet Home Minister Sudhan Gurung.
