Shivnath Rural Municipality declared fully institutionalized maternity ward
Baitadi: Shivnath Rural Municipality of Baitadi has been declared a fully institutionalized maternity ward. After fulfilling all the necessary criteria, the rural municipality has received the status of a fully institutionalized maternity ward.
To be declared a fully institutionalized maternity ward, the criteria include at least 90 percent of pregnant women in the municipality receiving regular antenatal check-ups, more than 95 percent delivering at a health facility, and zero home deliveries.
According to Narendra Mahata, head of the rural municipality’s health department, the percentage of pregnant women who have completed four antenatal check-ups has reached 90.7 percent, while the rate of deliveries conducted at health facilities in the presence of trained health workers is 100 percent.
Rural Municipality Chairman Karnasingh Saund said that continuous cooperation from all stakeholders is necessary to ensure that all pregnant women can safely deliver at health facilities. He added that the rural municipality is continuously working to improve the overall health situation with the goal of reducing maternal and newborn mortality rates to zero.
