Security tightened at Kailali’s Gaurifanta checkpoint with deployment of sniffer dogs
Kailali: Security checks have been intensified at the Gaurifanta checkpoint in Kailali, which borders India. With the aim of controlling illegal activities in the border area and maintaining peace and security, Nepal Police has launched enhanced inspections with the deployment of trained sniffer dogs.
According to DSP Yogendra Timilsina of the District Police Office, passengers, vehicles, and goods entering Nepal and traveling to India are being thoroughly inspected. Police stated that trained dogs have been mobilized to detect narcotics, explosives, illegal goods, and other suspicious items.
Police officials said that as security alerts in the border area have recently increased, passengers have been urged to carry necessary identification and cooperate with security checks. To further strengthen the effectiveness of these measures, surveillance has been increased through coordination among Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, and relevant agencies.
