Five arrested on foreign employment fraud charges, Millions reportedly cheated

Kathmandu: Five people have been arrested on charges of cheating people by promising attractive salaries for foreign employment and then sending them to various countries.

According to the Central Police News Room, the arrested persons are Bangdi Lama of Sindhupalchowk, Lalit Bahadur Tamang of Ramechhap, Santoshi Lama of Dhading, Ramdas Maharjan of Chandragiri Municipality-8 and Sharib Giri of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15.

Accused Bangdi had cheated one person of Rs 50,000 by promising to send them to Azerbaijan, Lalit Bahadur had cheated one person of Rs 250,000 by promising to send them to Kosovo, Santoshi had cheated one person of Rs 1.5 million by promising to send them to Spain, Ramdas had cheated seven people of Rs 4.5 million by promising to send them to UAE and Sharib had cheated one person of Rs 2 million by promising to send them to Canada.

They were recently arrested from various locations by a police team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office. All the accused have been taken to the Department of Foreign Employment for action.
