RSP General convention: 384 candidates for central member posts

Chitwan: The list of candidates for the first phase of the first general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been made public. The list of candidates who have filed nominations for ninety-nine central member posts has been made public.

According to Netra Lamichhane, a leader of RSP Chitwan who is associated with the party’s Central Election Commission, 384 candidates have registered their nominations in the first phase of the central member election. Of these, 210 have filed candidacies for the open category and 174 for the geographical category. Five candidates will be elected from each province.

A total of 35 members will be elected from seven provinces, while 210 candidates have filed nominations for the 64 open-category seats. According to Lamichhane, 18 candidates have filed nominations from Sudurpaschim Province, 20 from Madhes Province, 31 from Lumbini Province, 20 from Koshi Province, 31 from Karnali Province, 27 from Bagmati Province, and 27 from Gandaki Province.

According to him, the preliminary list has been made public and time has been provided for objections following its publication. After this process, the final list of candidates will be published. Lamichhane informed that preparations are being made to hold the election tonight after the final list is entered into the electronic voting machine. Ravi Lamichhane has been elected unopposed as the chairman.
