Teacher accused of sexual abuse of student in Baitadi, investigation underway
Baitadi: A teacher at Kalika Secondary School in Thaligada, Dasharathchand Municipality-6 has been accused of sexually abusing a student studying at the same school.
The incident is reported to have occurred about a week ago. The victim has alleged that Naresh Bahadur Chand, a teacher working under the relief quota, sexually abused her while she was alone in the classroom. According to the victim, a complaint regarding the incident that took place on Jestha 22 has been registered at the District Police Office, Baitadi.
Following the incident, the student informed her family, after which the school administration held discussions with the concerned bodies. During these discussions, it was revealed that complaints had previously been raised against the same teacher, but the school had settled the matter through mediation.
School principal Padmaraj Lekhak confirmed that the accused teacher has been dismissed from the school. He also stated that a complaint has been filed with the police regarding the incident.
According to the District Police Office, Baitadi, a complaint was received from the victim on Jestha 30, and the investigation process has been initiated after establishing contact with the accused teacher.
Police have stated that the investigation is ongoing and that necessary action will be taken in accordance with prevailing law upon its completion.
