Asian qualifiers: Hong Kong sets Nepal a target of 189 runs

Kathmandu: In today’s match under the Asian Games Men’s Cricket Qualifiers, Hong Kong has set Nepal a target of 189 runs for victory. Batting first after losing the toss, Hong Kong scored 188 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

For Hong Kong, Ashungman Rath contributed the highest with 80 runs. He scored a half-century of 80 runs off 45 balls, hitting six fours and six sixes. Similarly, Shahid Wasif was dismissed for 55 runs off 28 balls with seven fours and three sixes, while Shiva Mathur scored 26 runs off 21 balls.

For Nepal, Sher Malla took four wickets. Karan KC took two wickets and Sandeep Lamichhane took one wicket. Nepal reached the final of the tournament after defeating Oman in the semi-final, while Hong Kong reached the final after defeating Malaysia. Both teams have already qualified for the Asian Games to be held in Japan in September.

Meanwhile, Dipendra Singh Airee completed 100 matches in his Twenty20 International career with today’s match. He played his first T20 International against the Netherlands at Lord’s, London on July 29, 2018, and reached the milestone in today’s match against Hong Kong.
