RSVP holds district conventions in 28 districts today, including five in Far-west
Kathmandu: The ruling National Independent Party (RSVP) is holding its first district conventions in 28 districts across the country today.
According to Central Election Commission Chief Bhuwan KC, conventions are being held in four districts in Koshi Province, four in Madhesh, two in Bagmati, four in Gandaki, one in Lumbini, six in Karnali, and five in the Far West. The districts include Udayapur, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Ilam, Siraha, Dhanusha, Parsa, Sarlahi, Chitwan, Dolakha, Tanahun, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), Gorkha, Lamjung, Arghakhanchi, Rupandehi, Pyuthan, Surkhet, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum (West), Mugu, Jumla, Achham, Doti, Kailali, Kanchanpur, and Bajura.
A three-member election committee has been mobilized in each district to ensure a fair election process during the conventions, according to KC.
The party had concluded its conventions in 38 districts on Saturday. According to the commission, conventions were held in Jhapa, Morang, Tehrathum, Taplejung, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Okhaldhunga, Sunsari, Mahottari, Rautahat, Dolakha, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Nuwakot, Dhading, Makawanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, and Sindhuli.
Similarly, conventions were also held in Syangja, Kaski, Parbat, Baglung, Myagdi, Gulmi, Nawalparasi, Palpa, Kapilvastu, Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Rolpa, Kalikot, Salyan, Baitadi, Bajhang, and Darchula, where new leadership was elected.
Stating that district conventions are an important step in transforming the party from an ad hoc structure into a fully legitimate and people-approved organization, the commission has urged all stakeholders to conduct the internal democratic process in a clean, impartial, and peaceful manner.
The party has stated that the Bara district convention will be held on Jestha 26 due to special organizational circumstances.
The RSVP is preparing to hold conventions in 67 out of 77 districts before its first national convention, while conventions in the remaining 10 districts will be held after the national convention.
The party’s provincial conventions will begin on Jestha 26. Five-member provincial election committees have been formed in all seven provinces to conduct the provincial conventions.
The first national convention of the RSVP is scheduled to be held in Chitwan from Asad 27 to 29.
